In the last year, there have been imposters filing for unemployment benefits with information from people who have not actually filed claims. If you see that someone is using your personal information for their benefit, you have to act fast. Take the following steps to protect your finances and credit:

• Report the fraud directly to your employer. Keep a record of who you spoke with and when.
• Report the fraud to your state unemployment benefits agency. 
• Visit IdentityTheft.gov to report the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission and get help with the next important recovery steps. 
• Review your credit reports often.
